Q: Why is my child not advancing to the next level?
A: This is a common concern. Everybody learns at their own rate; do not feel discouraged if your child is not advancing quickly. While your child may be able to do a particular task in a level, there are other tasks that must also me learned and mastered before advancing. Your instructor will talk with you at the end of every lesson to let you know how they are doing and what needs to be accomplished before advancing to the next level.
Q: Should I practice with my child?
A: Yes! Our pool is open 7 days a week and we highly encourage you to make use of it for practicing.
Q: How many times a week should my child take lessons?
A: That depends on your child. A more fearful child, or young child might benefit from 2 or 3 x per week. The consistency will help them to bond with their instructor faster as well as keep the information they learn fresh and put to use. An older child or higher level is probably good with 1x per week to keep up with their skills especially during the winter months.
Q: What do I need to bring to my lessons?
A: You will always need your swimsuit and a towel. You may also want to bring a dry change of clothes and any bathing items (shampoo, body wash, lotions etc) if you choose to use the showers we offer in the restrooms. If your child is not potty trained please bring swim diapers which can be also purchased at swim school.
Q: What if my child already knows how to swim? What could they benefit from swimming lessons?
A: Knowing how to swim and being a proficient swimmer are two different things. If your child knows how to swim they will most likely be assessed in to one of our higher levels where they will learn stroke perfection of all 4 competitive strokes, competitive starts, and dives as well as flip turns. When they have reached or Orcha swim team level they will compete with other student and/or instructors in speed challenges.
